The holidays are a time to reflect on the year, reconnect with the people we love, and spread a little cheer. Holiday cards embody all of that. But in the season of giving, we figured they could also do some real good in the world.

As a company, we commit to give half of our after-tax profits to the causes our customers select, proportional to the sales of those orders. It’s not an add-on at checkout. The giving comes from our profits.

Our cards do two things at once — they bring people a little closer, and they leave the world a little better.

More Than a Card

Every card carries a cause.

“Profits from this card support [Organization].”

The back of every card names the cause it supports. Like a ripple from a single drop, that one line creates awareness for a cause you believe in. And it just might move the person who opens it to learn more or give a little themselves.

Frequently Asked

How our giving works.

As a company, we commit to giving 50% of our after-tax profits to benefit the nonprofit organizations our customers choose, proportional to those sales. All giving flows through our giving partner, Pledge (the Pledgeling Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 46-2440594).

When does the money actually reach the nonprofits?

At the end of each fiscal quarter, once our accounting is final, we disburse 50% of after-tax profits to Pledge. Pledge disburses to nonprofits monthly, and most nonprofits receive the money by the 10th of the following month. Additionally, we know that some organizations need the funds more urgently during the holiday season. At the sole discretion of GivingPrints, we may disburse a portion of the estimated profits sooner and account for it when we calculate the quarterly amount.

How do you calculate after-tax profit?

We work through it the same way every quarter. Explained simply, we...

  1. Start with the revenue from orders that benefit a nonprofit;
  2. Subtract the cost of making, shipping and mailing your cards;
  3. Subtract the cost of running the business — things like software, marketing, and wages; and
  4. Pay our taxes.
  5. What’s left is our after-tax profit.
What happens to the other 50%?

It stays with GivingPrints to keep us running and growing so that we can give even more next year. It includes buying next year’s inventory and marketing, paying down business financing, and it covers Pledge disbursement fees so that the full 50% goes to the organization.

Can I deduct my purchase on my taxes?

No. You’re buying a product, not making a personal donation — the giving is done by GivingPrints, from our profits. (One upside of that: you don’t have to do anything at tax time for the giving to happen.)

How do I know the money makes it to the nonprofit?

Pledge provides best-in-class tracking of funds as they are disbursed to and received by nonprofit organizations. We share that tracking of all our disbursements, along with a more detailed annual report of total giving by cause area and nonprofit.

We’re proud of our business model, and strive to be an example of doing well while doing good. If you believe more businesses should be like this, help support us by ordering your holiday cards this year and telling all your friends too.

Which nonprofits can I choose from?

Through our giving partner, Pledge, customers can select from over 2M organizations — any of the 1.3M registered 501(c)(3) organizations, plus another 700k eligible organizations.

What’s the paper and printing quality?

We hold our cards to a simple standard: they should feel equal to or exceed the quality of the top holiday companies. That means substantial, beautifully finished 130lb card stock, and rich printing that does your photos and designs justice. All cards are 5x7, and peel & seal envelopes are included (because no one likes licking envelopes!).

Will you pre-address the envelopes for me?

Absolutely. Opt in during personalization and we’ll pre-print your return address and address each envelope to the people on your list, then ship the whole set to you — so all that’s left is a stamp. You can also take plain envelopes and do the whole thing yourself.

Will you mail the cards to my friends and family for me?

Yes! We know your time is valuable, so we offer Send for me, a premium add-on during card customization. We will address each envelope, stuff and seal it, put a real stamp on it, and mail it for you. You never touch a stamp or a mailbox. One thing to know: cards go out as individual First-Class mail, which doesn’t carry tracking — we’ll email you the day they go in the mail, but we can’t trace a single card after that the way a shipped package can be traced.

How do I make sure my card is correct before it prints?

You’ll see a full preview of your card during the customization process — please inspect it carefully, since that preview is your chance to catch any typos or details before it goes to print. We also review every card as it’s printed and will reach out if something looks off. And if a mistake is ever on our end, we’ll make it right.

Are you open to designs from independent artists and designers?

Yes! We’re always interested in adding fresh, original work to the GivingPrints collection. We can offer either a one-time flat fee for selected designs or designer attribution with a link to your profile or portfolio.
